Professor Mark Grabowski was quoted in several media outlets this week on bitcoin and blockchain.

Grabowski, who this fall will teach an online course on Bitcoin & Blockchain at Adelphi University, discussed the topic with Gatehouse Media's newspaper chain, Fupping, CMS Wire and The Enterprisers Project. He offered investment tips for cryptocurrency and discussed other applications for blockchain technology.

"While there's much debate over the future of Bitcoin (is it a bubble?), one thing you can probably bet on is that the underlying technology of blockchain will at least succeed and be widely adopted, even if cryptocurrency turns out to just be a fad,” he said.

Professor Mark Grabowski has been invited to speak on cryptocurrency law at the 2018 conference of Hacks in Taiwan (HITCON), "a highly technical security conference in Taiwan to gather the various information security researchers and their expertise." This year's conference will take place in Taipei July 27-28 and focus on blockchain.

Grabowski's talk will cover the legal issues surrounding Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. What are the current and proposed laws in Asia, the United States and other nations affecting Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and ICOs? Which nations are the most crypto-friendly and which countries have banned cryptocurrency? How are private actors helping or interfering with crypto -- Google and Facebook, for example, have banned advertisements related to cryptocurrency. How might government regulation benefit and harm the cryptospace and impact the market? What are the biggest legal challenges lawmakers face in addressing cryptocurrency?

Grabowski is an internet law professor at Adelphi University in New York City and writes a column for the Washington Examiner. He has a forthcoming textbook on Cyber Law & Ethics. Grabowski is frequently invited to give talks around the world, which includes a 2014 TEDx talk on “The Battle for Control of the Internet” in Shanghai and a 2016 talk on the ICANN transition at the University of Hong Kong.  He holds a J.D. from Georgetown Law.

Grabowski cited on social media law

Mark Grabowski, who teaches Cyber Law & Ethics at Adelphi University, was recently quoted on social media law in a major newspaper and a law journal.

Grabowski explained to Newsday why even small businesses should adopt an online privacy policy in the wake of the recent Facebook controversy involving its sharing of users personal data. The story appeared May 24.

His research on Twitter's censorship was also extensively cited in an article published in the Spring 2018 volume of First Amendment Law Review. Grabowski has postulated that, although Twitter is a private company, it could be viewed as a public forum and thus required to provide free speech.
