Grabowski discusses Biden's TikTok policy

With TikTok's ties to China under scrutiny once again as President Biden weighs new rules for foreign apps, Mark Grabowski weighed in on the issue in a recent media interview.

“It is stunning that it’s taken so long for the Biden Administration to conclude TikTok is a national security threat,” he told NTD. “President Trump tried to address this problem, but unfortunately Biden was determined to immediately reverse everything Trump did — whether it made sense or not.”

Grabowski, a professor who specializes in cyber law and ethics, said: "TikTok is Chinese government malware masquerading as a social media app. [It] will go down as the most successful data harvesting of Americans ever done by a foreign adversary."

Iran's Tahlil Bazaar news agency interviewed Mark Grabowski about blockchain, which is an online database technology developed by cryptocurrencies that's now used in many industries.

Grabowski discussed the outlook for blockchain adoption in 2022 along with the benefits and challenges of integrating the technology in the workplace.

"Many big organizations are already utilizing blockchain in some capacity ... I think we’ll continue to see more adoption. COVID-19 has created a number of problems involving health safety, supply chain shortages and scams that blockchain could potentially solve," said Grabowski, who teaches a university course and wrote a book on blockchain.

But, he added that many obstacles exist in widespread blockchain adoption. "First of all, blockchain technology is complex ... Second, blockchain is still a nascent technology ... Finally, cost is a deterrent."

With Major League Baseball teams and players currently at an impasse over a new collective bargaining agreement, mediation is being proposed to help both sides resolve their dispute.

Major League Baseball pointed to Mark Grabowski's research on the high success rate of mediation in pro sports. In 2014, Grabowski published an article in the Harvard Journal of Sports & Entertainment Law that advocated for pro sports teams utilizing mediation to resolve contract disputes.

The law journal article was cited by MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball. It was also mentioned in a Washington Nationals blog and in an article on OnlineGambling.com.

Grabowski, a lawyer and professor, originally wrote the article as a paper for a mediation class he took while attending Georgetown University Law Center.
